The seed for Sweetbeets was sown a few years ago with the birth of my first child. As I searched for a unique birth announcement, I noticed that so many featured baby animals and pink or blue carriages. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see familiar images of childhood that capture the magic of that charmed age? Thinking of childhood instantly summons fond memories of skipping and hopscotch. I recalled the way my toddler was fascinated with a spinning top. And what is it about puddles that seem to attract all children like a magnet?

Watching my children play and remembering my own childhood inspired me to create illustrations that would be a sweet reminder of life's simple pleasures. I felt images that speak to the child in all of us would be perfect for greeting cards used to connect us with friends and family.

And just in case you might be wondering about the name "sweetbeets", this is what my husband affectionately calls our children. It seemed like just the right phrase to describe a fresh collection of greeting cards inspired by the sweetness and wonder of childhood.
